He turned the key in the lock and opened the door. To his horror, he saw… a wounded man lying in the corner he had a deep gash in his stomach. He seemed to just sit there not making any noise about how much pain he is in he just had a blank face. James though to himself he must be in shock.

He asked the man what had happened and the man yelled ALIENS ALIENS THEY HAVE COME TO EARTH AND ARE ATTACKING US ALL!!!!!!

The man then died. James looked around feeling paranoid about the aliens the man was talking about. the room he was in smelled like a dusty damp attic that needed to be cleaned out.

James ran out of the giant manor and called detective Mctavish and his best friend bonnie, who worked as a waitress at the local diner.

After what he had told them they both came as quickly as they could.

James took them into the house. The house was old and dusty the floorboards where rotting this house was the most fancy and expensive house 60 years ago. Eventually they came to the room.

The generic mans body still lay but there was an sleek dark un-human figure crouching over the body it had seemed to be eating the mans flesh.

The detective saw his opportunity. He grabbed the waitresses arm and said “ NO ONE WALK INTO THE ROOM THERES AN ALIEN IN THERE!!!!!!!”.

They ran past the bathroom and a kid came out of the bathroom with toilet paper dangling from his waist band he asked James where is my dad James figured that his dad was the man he told the kid to follow him and everyone ran towards the exit but as they were getting towards the exit an alien jumped out at them it body was rugged and bony it looked like and anorexic person who had jumped in to a tar pit.

James screamed and then it ripped everyone into fleshy chunks no one survived.

The army then had to blow up the house using c4 to get rid of the house and the aliens.

Lake eyre letter

Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000198 EndHTML:0000007989 StartFragment:0000003005 EndFragment:0000007953 SourceURL:file://localhost/Volumes/Users/bhanes/Desktop/2011/school%20stuff/Lake%20Eyre.doc

Dear community,

I hope you all have been enjoying the great holiday destination at lake Eyre. But it has come to my attention that the site has become rather dodgy and I am writing this letter to inform you about many different steps we all can take to keep the area as clean and diverse as it once was. Here is a list of steps.

Plant grass around the banks of the lake to prevent them from breaking away as the grass holds the bank together.

We should also have a cleaning team that go around the resort cleaning up any rubbish that is left on the ground this will keep the area tidy and environmentally friendly

We should also keep some parts of the lake and surrounding is reserved for the animal and plant life so it wont be disturbed by human and or vehicular activity.

Special dirt trails will be made for vehicles to go along avoiding the reserves and getting to where is needed.

We will also have a little environmentalists club for any kids who want to help keep lake Eyre healthy they will also get to experience awesome events like being able to work with animals and well known environmentalists .

I believe that it is important we follow through with these steps, as Lake Eyre is a beautiful spot that is a IBA (important bird area) as when the lake is full it becomes a diverse breading ground for endangered birds. It also has been used to break landspeed records over in the salt flats area. In conclusion this lake is worthy of centuries of existence

Yours truly

Elizabethian theater

Most theaters were built away from the city as to avoid the laws of the city

The globe theater is famous because almost every play of Shakespeare’s . He and the members of the Lord Chamberlains men financed the building of the globe in 1598 after the London theater shut down due to the bubonic plague. It was built on the bank of the river thames and it was opened to the public in 1599. It had burnt down 1613 but it was re built and Protestants who opposed all form of entertainment again destroyed it.

Plays were preformed at 3 o clock in the afternoon when they were in a circular open air theater. There was not sufficient light to hold plays for large audiences at night . At the globe a flag saying that the theater was open and each flag had a colour depending on the genre white = comedy black meant tragedy and red was history.

The female rolls in Williams and all plays where played by boys who hadn’t reached puberty this wasn't because women were second class citizens but because women acting publicly was considered to be the equivalent of them acting in inappropriate shows.

In these large scenery weren’t used as having to carry them on and off in full view would ruin the show but if there was a major change in terrin like a cave some more curtains behind the actor would be pulled back to reveal pre placed scenery small props were carried on by the actors themselves.

The costumes actors wore were very fashionable and they were granted special permission to where theses as poor people weren’t allowed to wear the latest fashions . Actors had to have lots of skills like sword fighting skills and they had to be able to fall convincingly. The voices of the actors had to carry well and to ensure the lot was getting out to the audience the actors often exaggerated gestures. They also had to have an excellent memory.

Standing room at the globe was about 1 penny. Richard Burbage was one of the many actors for Shakespeare’s plays

The chamberlains men were a playing company that preformed all of Shakespeares plays there name was later changed to kings men.

The pit is the place were the orchestra plays in a theater

A groundler was a playgoer watching from the standing area

A trap door is a sliding or hinged door in a floor or ceiling

Tiring is to become in need of sleep

2011 the year of forests

Sustainable management: sustainable management takes the concepts from sustainability and synthesizes them with the concepts of management

Conservation the action of preserving something in particular

Sustainable development

Sustainable Development is a pattern of resource that use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present but for generations to come

These three things apply to forests, as we need to conserve them for the future. With out them we wouldn't be able to breathe and we would die.

Forests are geographically important as over 1.6 billion people live off of them as they provide shelter food water and they provide clean air. They also are home for many exotic animals and insects so without them we would have none of that. Also we use some leaf excrements that are only found in the Amazon rainforest to cure diseases.

The reason the event is called “International Year of forests forests for people” is to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development for all types of forests. It also is called his because achieving a sustainable future requires passion innovation and strategy but importantly requires the effort of every day people

The Story of Reznov the Righteous ruler

A blood-curdling scream projects from the dark street; frantic footsteps are heard the sound of a man breathing heavily can be picked out of the raucous. This is what the magical kingdom of Ogonof has been like ever since the Dictator took Bailey Razelen’s place as ruler.

Today is April 15th. Reznov poured magical elixirs onto his plants to help them grow. Reznov was a mid-sized, 30-year-old man with a dark brown beard. He wore a dark red bandanna and a worn leather coat. And when he poured the last drop of the magical elixir on his sunflower he decided to get some more. He walked down through the town avoiding the ogres and trolls talking amongst themselves probably planning their next robbery. He saw the big wooden sign that said “Elixirs R us” And as he walked in there was the Dictator standing there with his dark cloak that hid his face from the daylight.

And just like that guards grabbed him and dragged him to the gladiator arena and they threw him into a small cell with a big door that lead into the arena. In the cell there was another man named Gleshnakov. He told Reznov about the fighting and that they had to fight each other to the death. Reznov was shocked. He didn't want to kill a man or be killed for the amusement of the Dictator. An ecstatic roar came from the crowd as they where let out of there cells. They where give a selection of weapons and magical spells, Reznov chose a sword and a freeze spell and when everyone was ready the fighting began.

Luckily, Reznov was a good fighter and after a short while he froze his opponent. He was about to stab him but he just couldn’t so he dropped his sword and pulled him back up. The crowd was angry and two guards grabbed him and dragged him to the dungeon, as he was being dragged away he saw a giant hog-like beast kill Gleshnakov.

Reznov was thrown into the dungeon. It was eerie and damp the whole place smelled like rotting wood and his cell was covered moss and grime. He was there for almost a week when he decided that he was going to get out at all costs even though he was famished and could barely do a thing. He swung his fist and with a thud he hit Boris the dungeon keeper through the bars. Boris was knocked out Reznov relieved the guard of his keys and escaped the Dungeon he ran all the way to the evil lair of the dictator An army of 10 men attacked him Reznov grabbed a sword and started slicing his way through the group of men with the clanging of swords and the thudding of bodies he ran up the stairs that never seemed to end and he burst through the door of the dictators lair the dictator turned around and Reznov plunged his sword through his chest. The dark figure fell to the ground and said, “You will regret this!!!”

Reznov watched the body fade to nothing. He knew who the leader was now…

TBTT Bulling discussion Questions

I don’t think it was right for Jess and Leslie to write a fake letter to Janice as it made her life very miserable and I don't believe in making people miserable even if it is a bully. If I were Jess & Leslie, I would be very nice to her and understanding and maybe she will be nice back to me.

The bullies I have experienced in my life are not invincible at all. This is because teachers could control them. They also weren’t so tough because when they got detentions they where all sorry and not the kind of person you would think a bully would be.

I think that Jess and Leslie reached out to Janice as they knew what it felt like to be bullied and they also felt sorry that they caused her to become unpopular. I would have been compassionate towards Janice as it’s in my nature to be nice to everyone and anyone.

Learning of Janice’s situation with her father changes the way Leslie and Jess perceive Janice and her behaviours as they realise that her life is so much worse than theirs and that she is only really taking her anger out on other children.

Janice’s change in behavior towards the end of the movie is that she is friendly to the children who she bullied and she is also rather sad and miserable that all of her friends tease her. Her symbolic character in Terabithia “ the Giant Troll” goes from trying to destroy Jess and Leslie to helping them and befriending them.

I think some children tease and bully each other because they may have an older brother or sister that may bully them or they may have a family that is always fighting and their parents may abuse them. It may make the bully feel powerful or invincible that they can boss others around and rule the playground. The victims of bullying mostly feel miserable and depressed, as most of the time teachers can’t fix bullying problems and the children are bullied for the rest of their school life, which can also lead to a low self esteem.

I believe expelling all bullies from every school can prevent bullying and that there should be a special school for bullies where they can learn to become better people. Some steps I might take to prevent bullying would be to make a anti bully team that records any bullying and reports it to teachers as well as have a little school security team to patrol the playground.

The bridge to terabithia

1. Some of the Forces of Darkness became forces of good because jess and Leslie befriended Janice Avery. This happens because Janice realizes that she has been a bully to all the other children.

2. My favorite character in The Bridge to Terabithia would have to be Leslie as I think she is a great role model to all children who may have a hard time at his/her school as she learns to ignore and stand up to bullies. She also becomes a great friend of Jess and together they create The World of Terabithia.

3. There are people and things that could become Terabithians in my life, they are….

My dog- it could turn into my trusty guard dog to ward of evil spirits.

My House- it could become the grand castle where I rule as king

My brother- would become the prince of Terabithia and he would also be a noble knight

My car- would become my trusty steed that could fly through the sky.

My dad- would become the wise wizard of Terabithia

4. Jess eventually invites May belle to Terabithia because he felt guilty and like a bully after he pushed her away because he was angry that Leslie died. This made May Belle very sad.

5. I think that creating imaginary symbols helps people cope with difficult situations as it frees their mind from the real world. Like when Jess forgets all his troubles when he enters Terabithia. I think they also do it because they can imagine there in a better world than what there in now.

The bridge to terabythia film study

Find four examples of the theme friendship in the story:
Lesley gives jess a piece of gum on the bus to make him feel better.
Lesley buys jess a present for his b-day
Jess takes his little sister to terabythia
jess' little sister forgives jess

Which characters best exemplify the theme friendship?
I think that lesley and jess best exemplify friendship as they become very good friends and they create terabythia together and when Lesley dies jess is distraught which means that he was good friends with her

What elements of the fantasy genre can you think of?
The mythical creatures and all the shadows as well as the whole other world called terabythia which is actually an island that is out of the fantasy novel Narnia
