    Structure of the school/basic philosophy

TAS has a co-educational Junior School with classes from Transition (4 years old) to Year 5, an award winning Middle School for boys from Years 6 to 8 and a Senior School from Years 9 to 12.

    Junior School

In these formative years, we believe it is essential that our students enjoy coming to school and that their self confidence is nurtured by presenting appropriate and achievable challenges. To be supported by a strong team of highly dedicated and professional staff, alongside a valued partnership with parents in these shared beliefs, is a sure recipe for a happy and vibrant school community.

Central to the Middle School philosophy is the belief that pupil motivation and self-esteem are undermined, not when too much is expected of them, but too little.

Students need to be challenged by offering them an array of learning circumstances, by setting high standards and by providing opportunities for students to be responsible and accountable for their learning. We believe that we will achieve this goal by providing a demanding, adventurous and well-balanced curriculum.

    Senior School

Life as a senior school student is full of the expectations of achievement, responsibility and independence. Our senior students are required to make significant choices and decisions regarding their academic programs as well as demonstrate leadership and responsibility. Academically they have control over their own learning through their choice of subjects leading to the Higher School Certificate. Academic achievement is their focus as they seek performance outcomes.
