Film making to recored discoveries and present findings.
Describe what specific aspects of the learning process will be supported by the technology or technologies
The whole unit of work is supported by ICT in a variety of ways. The introduction and building up of the field uses Inspiration to allow the students to brainstorm and demonstrate their prior knowledge. The planning of the interviews involves students using Word to publish questionnaires and the use of email to organise and confirm interview times. The actual interviews require the students to film their subjects and then create a segment using iMovie. The process culminates in each group's work contributing to a whole class documentary.
1. The novelty of the movie-making technologies will combine with the intrinsic motivation gained from actively investigating and recording the various elements of their own personal learning community.
2. The accessibility and ease of use in relation to editing software will enable success, in a project which is meaningful and holistic by nature.
The class teacher will be responsible for implementing the programme and guiding the students through the various steps of the project. She will also run the demonstration lessons for the use of software unfamiliar to the students. The teacher will also collect data.
The Pre-service teachers' role is to assist the teacher, support students by facilitating the learning process and collect data on engagement.
The lecturer's role is to make suggestions and guide the planning process. She will also make regular contact with the pre-service teachers and assist in keeping them on track, particularly in terms of data collection. The lecturer will be key in writing up results into papers for conference presentation.
