Data Representation and Analysis
Detail the actual learning outcomes to be achieved during the learning initiative
Problem-based learning unit. There will be an overarching open-ended problem that is the focus of the unit. There will be a range of technologies which are embedded within a constructivist approach where the activities are accessible to each individual in the class.
The applications that students use will vary depending on the individual learning experiences of the student. Applications will include: Pages, Numbers, iTunes U, iPhone/iPod Touch Applications, Excel, Gapminder, iPhoto, Logger Pro, iMovie, Word, iStopMotion, Maths300, Keynote/PowerPoint, Word, Internet searches
ICT applications will be used a teaching tool to enhance the development of the mathematical concepts. ICT will not be merely be used a display tool.
Describe the expected impact of the technology or technologies on student engagement
* Converse with fellow students and teacher concerning the target concept - gradual improvement from informed to formal language use.
* World issues to be explored with authentic sample - focus on expedient analysis rather than tedious repetitive
* A dynamic rather than static learning environment.
* Technology supports an open-ended exploration to access real world data as well as electronic data that has been previously collected by external sources.
* Initial unit design
* Team teaching with pre-service teachers
* Shared data collection
