The main strengths of this project are the Tertiary collaboration, involvement of pre-service teachers, the action research undertaken by the participants, the sharing of findings with the community and the beginnings of a model for future investigation.
In addition, the project deals with integrated curriculum exploration using ICTs as change agents. The nature of integrated approaches requiring the application of knowledge across several disciplinary areas, contributing to real product for real audiences can’t be underestimated.
Our participants will be expected to contribute via in house wikis and blogs, modeling the reflective practices that we expect in our students.
The project involves the wider community, not just inservice teachers and explores the dimensions of ICT as a change agent from a student, pre-service and tertiary perspective.
Our students will derive significant value from their input via pre-service teachers, and the focus on engaging learners, and existing teaching staff can expand their knowledge, gather and analyse data with minimal disruption.
The project makes a good vehicle for conference presentations, and will lead to the development of a model for pre service training.
